Today in Rome, Confitarma, Assarmatori, Assorimorchiatori and Federimorchiatori signed with Filt-CGIL, Fit-CISL and Uiltrasporti the agreement for the renewal of the 15 chapters of the National Collective Labor Agreement for the shipping sector, valid until December 31, 2026. A similar agreement was signed with USCLAC-UNCDIM with reference to the chapters applied to Captains and Chief Engineers.
The contract concerns approximately 63,000 seafarers, in addition to over 8,000 land workers, for a total of over 71,000 workers.
A renewal agreement that, on an economic level, provides an important response to the issue of protecting the purchasing power of workers’ wages in the sector, penalized by the high inflation recorded in the last two years, also introducing some innovative elements in terms of assistance and welfare for workers from the point of view of healthcare and supplementary pensions.
There are also new developments on a regulatory level, following a detailed and articulated discussion held in over sixty meetings concentrated in about eight months.
The parties continued the ambitious path of modernization, alignment and simplification of the 15 sections that make up the single-sector CCNL, identifying balanced solutions on issues such as the necessary and desired reassessment of the role of the deck officer cadet. This role is considered a fundamental element to address the shortage of maritime personnel.
